Jingles (known as 'station id's)
JINGLES JINGLES and lots of em...listen to these to bring back memories......................... So what are jingles?? Radio stations used, and still do use 'station id's. These are short tunes announcing the radio station, or program. Along with many others in the early days, in an attempt to sound more 'professional' I used 'Jingles' to promote the disco and as part of the intro for tracks played. Jingles were recorded on cartidges similar to 8 track and played on a cartrige machine. As an example of what was in use late 60's to early/mid seventies I have placed a number of these Jingles on this webpage. All files are in MP3 format. To play them you must have a sound card installed on your PC/Mac and a program suitable for replay of the MP3 format, this should be your default player for this filetype. Clicking a file name will enable the file to be heard on your system (remember to turn up the volume!). Choose to open the file. If I can find a good jukebox player I will add it to the page. OK then ................... enjoy!
Note, the filename also gives you the playtime in min, sec, fractions e.g. KJ001 is 13.12 secs long. Interested in Jingles?? a good place to start is with Geoff Barton and some more at the BBC |
